Love Knows My Name

One cold winter morning,

Love gently taps on my window

I closed my curtains and told her it was too cold outside.

Love showed up in the hearts of others

I turned to walk away “Not right now, not me.”

Love wrote me letters;

Unanswered calls & unread mail.

But you see, love’s persistence is pure.

Love transformed into the soft snow

begging me not to go

I trudged through

Pushing past nature

I led myself astray

until I could not feel my legs anymore

I turn to go back home

Knock on the door

Love smiled,

“Welcome home, my child. Oh, how I’ve waited for this day.”
